Rory McIlroy tossed his club in frustration after a bad tee shot and it was so relatable

Rory McIlroy is one of us. Well, kind of, anyway. Of course, he’s one of the best golfers in the world.

But he also messes up, too! And when he messes up, he gets pretty angry. Angry enough to throw his club. Just like us! It’s a little bit refreshing, honestly.

That’s what happened at the British Open on Saturday on the 14th tee. McIlroy teed off with an iron on the par-5 hole and it veered off the path and to the left on him. Clearly, it wasn’t where he wanted it to go. And, also very clearly, he was frustrated with his play.

Frustrated enough to just chuck his club across the green.

Ah, yeah. Been there before, Rory. As someone who is absolutely awful at golf, I know this feeling all too well.

And who can honestly blame him? He played so well on the front 9. He just hasn’t been able to find his footing to close and, clearly, it’s getting to him.

Yeah, I’d totally be chucking my club, too. No worries, Rory. Happens to the best of us.
