Rory McIlroy to take part in charity match to be shown on Sky Sports

World No 1 Rory McIlroy and World No 5 Dustin Johnson will pair up for a skins match against Rickie Fowler and Matthew Wolff on May 17.

Florida's Seminole Country Club will host the TaylorMade Driving Relief match, which will be shown live on Sky Sports.

The match will take place without spectators at the course due to Covid-19, while the first two holes will be screened live on Twitter.

$3 million in charity skins will go towards charities nominated by the players. McIlroy and Johnson nominated the American Nurses Foundation, while Fowler and Wolff nominated CDC Foundation.

“It’s been difficult to witness what so many are enduring over the last several weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” McIlroy said in a statement.

“I hope that we can provide some respite and entertainment for those tuning in across the globe. Dustin and I will have a lot of fun together and our games will fit well as we push to raise funds and awareness on May 17.”

The action gets underway at 7pm GMT on Sunday, May 17. Players and others on site, such as TV production crews, will be tested to comply with health and safety guidelines, with social distancing measures also in place.

Tiger Woods and NFL legend Peyton Manning will also play in a fundraiser this month against Woods' long-time rival Phil Mickelson and NFL superstar Tom Brady.
