Rory McIlroy shut down Matt Kuchar with a hilarious jab about his caddie controversy

For years, Matt Kuchar had been regarded as one of the more liked golfers on the PGA Tour. Fans overwhelmingly rooted for him, but back in February, his reputation took a major hit when it was learned that he paid a stand-in caddie just $5,000 out of a $1.2 million winning.

Kuchar was faced with questions about his embarrassing cheapness and pressured to make matters right with the caddie, David Giral Ortiz. It was, again, a total (and deserved) embarrassment for Kuchar.

But you know what they say? People don’t forget.

During Tuesday’s Wyndham Rewards ceremony, Rory McIlroy had his turn to poke fun at Kuchar for being stingy. As Kuchar was complaining about how a two-point difference in the standings cost him $300,000, McIlroy just couldn’t resist.

McIlroy jumped in and said, “And we all know what money means to him.”

Oh, Rory. That was cold.

A shocked Kuchar tried to laugh it off, but he couldn’t really muster much of a response.

Kuchar is really never going to hear the end of that one.
