Rory McIlroy has withdrawn from the pro-am and his press conference at The Memorial citing "personal reasons", according to reports.
The world number 8 golfer's decision comes just days after controversy that followed tennis player Naomi Osaka's withdrawal from the French Open.
Days of intense media attention followed the four-time Grand Slam winner's announcement that she would not conduct her obligatory press duties due to mental health reasons.
Now, on the eve of The Memorial at Muirfield Village, it has emerged that McIlroy will not be fulfilling his media duties.

Golf Channel reporter Rex Hoggard said: "Rory McIlroy withdrew from Wednesday's pro-am at the Memorial and also cancelled his press conference.
"According to Tour official he cited personal reasons for the withdrawal."
The four time major champion from Co Down is currently fourth in Europe's Ryder Cup standings.
