Rory McIlroy pays tribute to Tiger Woods by wearing Sunday red for final round

Rory McIlroy is one of host of players paying tribute to Tiger Woods by wearing red and black at a tournament today.

The Holywood man has taken inspiration from the 15-time major champion by wearing Woods' trademark Sunday combination of a red shirt and black trousers.

It comes as Woods continues to recover in hospital from injuries sustained in a horror car crash in Los Angeles this week.

Woods suffered two open fractures and a shattered ankle, and had to have his right leg put back together with a metal rod, pins and screws.

The 45-year-old is now being treated at LA's Cedars-Sinai Medical Center - a level one trauma centre with a reputation for rehabbing athletes.

The golf community has been quick to rally around the legendary figure, with the likes of Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Thomas also wearing red and black today in support of Woods.

McIlroy starts the final round of the WGC - Workday Championship four shots behind leader Collin Morikawa. He is looking to join only Woods and Dustin Johnson in having won all four World Golf Championships.
