Rory McIlroy names former rugby player Niall O'Connor as his caddie for DP World Tour Championship in Dubai

Rory McIlroy has named former rugby player Niall O'Connor as his caddie for this week's DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

McIlroy's usual caddie Harry Diamond has just became a dad and is spending time with his family.

He is expected to be back on McIlroy's bag when the PGA Tour gets underway in early 2020.

Former fly-half O'Connor made almost 60 appearances for Ulster and also played for Connacht.

McIlroy is favourite with the bookies for this week's competition, which gets underway on Thursday.

The Hollywood native has already won the tournament twice, having triumphed in 2012 and 2015.
