Rory McIlroy incredibly drives the green on 415-yard par 4 at Mexico Championship

Rory McIlroy incredibly drove the ball on the green on a 415-yard par 4 in the Mexico Championship on Saturday.

The Holywood golfer is known for his prodigious length off the tee and he showed why in some style on the 12th hole.

This week's event is played at nearly 8,000 feet above elevation so the golf ball is flying further than normal.

But notwithstanding this, it seemed nearly imaginable that someone would fly it all the way to the green and end up hole high.

That is exactly what McIlroy did with an arrow straight tee shot that finished just over 30 feet from the hole for a straight forward two putt birdie.

The world number one went on to shoot a 68 that leaves him four behind leader Justin Thomas heading into today's final round.

There was other astounding moments as Spain's Jon Rahm made a hole-in-one on the way to a 61.

Rahm was already eight under for his round on the 16th tee when he hit a wedge that took one bounce before finding the bottom of the cup in spectacular style.

He will play with McIlroy in the penultimate group in the final round.
