Rory McIlroy in relatable golf moment as ball travels less than a yard

Rory McIlroy provided golfers all around the world with a relatable moment as he knocked his golf ball a mere yard in front of him.

McIlroy is currently playing at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth as he returns to this side of the Atlantic for the first time since the Open at St Andrew's.

And the world number three found himself in the rough early on in his round and attempted to hit a ball over the water and onto the green.

But McIlroy's lie was so bad that the ball travelled a mere yard and stayed in the rough.

McIlroy would go on to make bogey and it would be the first of the day.

The Northern Ireland golfer would birdie five times to launch himself into early contention as he hopes to win the second time on the trot having scooped the €18m top prize at the Tour Championship last month.
