Rory McIlroy and All Blacks ace Beauden Barrett pictured together in Japan after Ireland thrashing

There was a clear grimace on the face of Rory McIlroy throughout Ireland's 46-14 hammering at the hands of New Zealand last Saturday as he watched on.

And you can understand why as the Down native announced that he'll represent Ireland at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics this week.

It wasn't pretty as Joe Schmidt and Rory Best ended their times with Ireland in Tokyo as the All Blacks marched into the last four of the World Cup.

But the world number two's form seemed to be affected this week as he endured a poor start to the inaugural Zozo Championship in Japan - limping to a 72 and eight stroke deficit in the opening day.

But McIlroy was in good form on Wednesday as All Black Beauden Barrett, who spent a year in Ireland when he was eight years old, paid a visit during the week.

In a tweet, McIlroy wished Barrett luck in New Zealand's semi-final clash with England as he shared a photo of the pair on the course.

McIlroy said: "Great meeting you today Beauden Barrett. Best of luck this weekend".
