Rory Gallagher handed Derry reins for a further three years

Rory Gallagher has been handed a three-year extension to his current term as Derry senior football manager.

The former Donegal and Fermanagh boss has spent two seasons in charge of the Oak Leafers and this year’s campaign was particularly progressive as they stormed to the Division Three title before pushing a fancied Donegal side all the way in the Ulster quarter-final, only losing to a late Paddy McBrearty point in Ballybofey.

Having been initially appointed for a three-year term in 2019, the extra three years is in addition to that, thereby bringing him up to 2025 in what is a strong show of confidence from the Derry county board in the Gallagher project.
