Roosters forward Baker put into isolation

Fletcher Baker will miss the Roosters' next two games after NSW Health ordered him into isolation. (AAP)

Sydney Roosters have lost forward Fletcher Baker for two weeks and cancelled training on Monday after the second-rower was identified as a close contact of a COVID-19 case.

Baker was ordered into 14 days of isolation by NSW Health after visiting a Sydney supermarket that has been named as a hotspot.

His visit was not a breach of the NRL's protocols, which do allow players to leave the house for essential services.

The 21-year-old returned a negative test on his first swab, but real remain in isolation and miss games against Canterbury and North Queensland.

Reserve fullback Brad Abbey was also ordered to undergo a test given he lives in the same apartment building as a confirmed case.

The club therefore has to wait for him to return a negative test before they can resume training on Tuesday.

The Roosters have not trained over the weekend since their 46-0 flogging from Melbourne, meaning there is minimal risk of a crisis if either player was positive.

However it's the latest in a long run of scares for the league, with eight first-graders and a coach sidelined over the weekend after being identified as close contacts.
