Room To Improve host Dermot Bannon will showcase his own home in new RTE series in 2020

Many Room To Improve viewers may still be reeling after the end of the 12th season.

However, there's good news on the horizon as Dermot Bannon will return to RTE in the new year to showcase his own home in a two-part series.

The last installment of the much-loved property programme for 2019 was aired last Sunday.

But fans of the show won't have to wait too long until the nation's favourite architect is back on Irish TV, as Dermot will show off his own home on RTE One next January.

An RTE spokeswoman told the Irish Mirror: "Viewers have a lot to look forward to, as Dermot will open the doors to his own home in a two-part series airing on RTÉ One this coming January."

Dermot and his family lived in rented accommodation for over six months this year, while their new home was being extensively renovated in Drumcondra, Dublin.

The Dubliner previously admitted he was to blame for the slow progress.

He told RTE Guide in September: “We should have finished it by now.

“I’ve messed up everything. I’ve changed the specification which has added a huge amount of time. Everything is going bananas.”

He added: “I have sleepless nights but I believe you don’t get anything worthwhile out of life unless you put the work in.

“So the struggle is important, whether that is the TV Show you are making or the home you are building or even family life and marriage.

“Life has its ups and downs but you learn to cope.”
