Rookiw WR Andy Isabella could miss preseason opener with knee injury

The Arizona Cardinals might be without one of their three rookie receivers when they take the field Thursday evening in their preseason opener against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Second-round pick Andy Isabella, who left Thursday’s practice with an injury, has “a minor knee issue,” according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who addressed the media after Friday’s outside practice.

He isn’t expected to miss much time. “I expect him back sooner than later, let’s put it that way,” he said.

However, it sounds like he will likely miss the preseason opener. Kingsbury said he was “hopeful” Isabella could play but that they would have to see. “We’re not going to press it on him, but it won’t be anything major.”

In situations like this, teams almost always err on the side of caution. Unless he quickly recovers and is able to practice on Monday or Tuesday, don’t expect Isabella to play on Thursday.
