Rookie safety Marquise Blair ‘did his part’ in 1st start for Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks rookie safety Marquise Blair logged his first NFL start against the Baltimore Ravens Sunday afternoon. With both Bradley McDougald and Lano Hill inactive Week 7, Blair heard his number called.

Against Baltimore, Blair posted six combined tackles for third-most on the team and a critical third-down pass breakup.

“I thought he did pretty good,” coach Pete Carroll said after the game. “I caught him a few times, and I have to look at the film to really know, but for the most part he came through and he did fine. He had a couple of nice plays and was good playing the ball one-on-one. He seemed to hold up his edge. It was a pretty basic game for us in that regard, in what he had to do.

“I thought he did his part.”

Carroll said McDougald could possibly return as soon as next week, but if he and Hill still remain unavailable, Blair could get another shot to prove he’s a worthy piece of the Seahawks backup puzzle.
