Rookie safety Deionte Thompson is more than just an alpha male

The Arizona Cardinals selected safety Deionte Thompson with the fifth-round pick in the NFL draft. He is an incredibly physical player, something most any team would want on the back end of the secondary.

In the latest episode of Cardinals Flight Plan, we get to see the phone call between the team and Thompson. We learn a little bit about Thompson with a comment coach Kliff Kingsbury makes to him.

After general manager Steve Keim tells him the Cardinals are drafting him, Kingsbury tells him he was texting Alabama cornerbacks coach Karl Scott. Scott called Thompson “the alpha male of all alpha males.”

He will fit in with a safety group that includes another alpha male in D.J. Swearinger.

Thompson, who had to wait his turn before becoming a starter at Alabama, will have to do the same in Arizona. However, that alpha male personality will be great to have on the field, whether it is special teams or just in practice.
