Rookie report for the Raiders in Week 13 versus Chiefs

The Oakland Raiders’ rookies didn’t have a fantastic day on Sunday as they were part of the reason the team lost in blowout fashion to Kansas City. Today, we will break down the performances from their entire draft class from 2019. Here is the team’s rookie report card after Week 13.

DE Clelin Ferrell: C-

It was another relatively quiet game for Clelin Ferrell, who recorded four tackles on Sunday. Ferrell didn’t record many pressures and was thoroughly outplayed by Maxx Crosby. Sunday just wasn’t  Crosby’s day.

RB Josh Jacobs: B+

Josh Jacobs had another fantastic day on the ground, running for 104 yards on 17 carries. But with Oakland getting down so quickly in this contest, the Raiders couldn’t stick with the run for very long. Jacobs continues to put up big numbers despite the Raiders losing two-straight games.

SS Johnathan Abram: N/A

The No. 27 pick in the 2019 NFL draft suffered a shoulder injury in Week 1 and was placed on the injured reserve list. With Karl Joseph hurt and expected to fit free agency this offseason, expect Abram to slide back into the starting lineup in 2020.

CB Trayvon Mullen: B+

It was a fascinating day for Trayvon Mullen, who could have had a monster day. He recorded an interception that was eventually overruled due to a questionable pass interference call. Mullen recorded two pass deflections and two tackles, but it could have been a much bigger day for the rookie cornerback.

DE Maxx Crosby: B

While Maxx Crosby was unable to record a sack in his third-straight game, he was the team’s best pass rusher for most of the day. He was around Patrick Mahomes and was able to record two tackles for a loss. His best play was when he diagnosed a jet-sweep to Tyreek Hill that led to a big loss for the Chiefs’ offense. If there is one positive takeaway for the Raiders from Week 13, its that Crosby continues to prove that he is a star.

CB Isaiah Johnson: N/A

With Lamarcus Joyner active, Isaiah Johnson was back to being inactive this week. Johnson is a player who needs a lot of development, so it’s not the worst thing in the world to have him sit on the sidelines at this point in the season. Expect Johnson’s role to expand in 2020.

TE Foster Moreau: C

Foster Moreau was targeted just one time on Sunday, catching that pass for 15 yards. He continued to do his best work in the run game as the team’s No. 2 tight end. Expect him to continue to have a complementary role as Darren Waller’s backup.

WR Hunter Renfrow: N/A

Hunter Renfrow was injured in Week 12 and wasn’t active for this week’s contest versus Kansas City. With Renfrow inactive, the Raiders didn’t have many reliable receivers in the passing game, having to rely on Darren Waller to carry their offense. There was certainly a notable difference in the team’s offense without Renfrow on the field.

DE Quinton Bell: N/A

Bell was released from Oakland’s practice squad in Week 6 as the team continues to churn the bottom of the roster. Bell was just too raw of a player for Oakland to continue to stash.
