Rookie Aristides Aquino is making history with homers, and the baseball world is obsessed

Aristides Aquino is putting together an unforgettable start to his MLB career. The Cincinnati Reds rookie has been ridiculously productive, with another impressive outing on Saturday. In the Reds’ 10-1 win over the Chicago Cubs, Aquino was 3 of 4 with three home runs.

Fans began to lose their minds after he went yard in his first three at-bats, which put him at seven homers in his first 10 career games, which tied him for an MLB record. He is also the first rookie to hit a homer in three consecutive innings and is the second player in MLB history with a three-home-run game within his first 10 career games.

Here’s a look

The 25-year-old rookie is staying humble.

“I’m not focused about my numbers,” Aquino told reporters on Saturday through an interpreter, via ESPN. “I don’t care about what I’ve done. The big thing is the team and to go out there and win as many games as we can.”

Nicknamed “The Punisher,” Acquino’s torrid start is helping the Reds stay competitive in playoff race. His three homers helped Cincy get Saturday’s win, which drew the Reds within six games of the Cubs, the National League Central Division leader.

The baseball world is in awe of the young slugger.
