Roof terrace for Bauhaus office scheme given green light

Plans to add a roof terrace to an office scheme in Quay Street has been given the green light.

Orchard Street Investment Management, behind the Bauhaus scheme in Manchester city centre, secured planing permission for a roof terrace 33.5m above ground.

Orchard Street said the plans offer tenants an open-air space to hold events from private functions and meetings to lunches and fitness classes.

Sarah O’Connell, asset manager at Orchard Street, said: “We see this as the finishing touch to the repositioning of this striking asset, which already benefits from a co-working business lounge, extensive cycle and shower facilities, high speed fibre connectivity and efficient floorplates.”

Plans have been designed in compliance to the IWBI’s WELL building standard, which measures an environment’s impact on human health and wellbeing, and are set to feature a metal pergola, living walls, biodiverse planting, integrated seating and tables and as break-out pods.

Ms O’Connell added: “The roof terrace’s addition will also enhance our WELL certification, ensuring a focus on the health and wellbeing of our occupiers and creating a workplace that optimises occupier efficiency.

“We are excited to move onto the next phase of this redevelopment and to see the result of this exceptional space.”
