Roof cut off car after M8 motorway crash

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are having to cut a roof off a car after a three-vehicle crash on the M8 motorway.

Traffic Scotland confirmed the incident shortly before 8am this morning, at Junction 16 George Square, westbound.

They have since Tweeted to say fire crews are on the scene and having to cut off the roof of the car.

The Tweet read: "M8 W/B between J15 Springburn and J16 George Sq. - Traffic still only running in lane 1 of 3 only due to 3 car RTC, Fire service on scene, need to cut roof off car. Traffic queuing from J11 Stepps, added delays of nearly 50 mins."

At this stage, it is not known whether anyone has been injured in the crash.

Glasgow Live have contacted the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service for comment.

The crash has caused significant delays of up to 50 minutes during rush-hour, with tailbacks to Junction 11 Stepps.
