A fire ripped through a derelict house, causing the roof to collapse.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the fire at the empty property near to Leasowe Lighthouse in Wirral at 5.48pm on Wednesday, and arrived on scene seven minutes later. Smoke was seen billowing from the blaze as fire crews used two main jet hoses to extinguish it.
People living in the area said they had witnessed building work taking place at the house in recent months. A banner on the wall outside said a caravan park, called Lighthouse View, will be opening there in Autumn this year.

A total of seven fire engines were sent to the scene of the fire on the Wirral Circular Trail. A spokesperson from the fire service said: "Firefighters arrived near to Leasowe Lighthouse, there was an empty property 20/10 metres well alight, which was brick built with a slate roof, fully involved in a fire.
"The reason there was so many fire engines was the water supply was hard to get to get hold of. The main body of fire was extinguished just before quarter past seven."

Firefighters started damping down at around 7.30pm to ensure the fire was unable to reignite, and crews remained on scene until 10.49pm.
Photos taken today show the damage caused by the blaze, which has caused the roof to completely collapse. Posting in a local community group, one resident said: "What a waste of a really nice building."
Another added: "They have only just replaced the whole roof on that house."
Merseyside Police were approached for comment.
