Ronny Johnsen identifies Solskjaer's biggest strength at Manchester United

Ronny Johnsen believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's biggest asset is the way he's bringing youth to the fore, and has given an upbeat verdict on Manchester United's future.

Solskjaer has come under fire at times this season as United have suffered up and down results.

But Johnsen, Solskjaer's fellow countryman and former teammate, believes the United boss is building a team for the future.

The ex-United centre-back and Treble winner under Sir Alex Ferguson was speaking to Khel Now TV at the launch of the 'United We Play' initiative in India and was asked about that famous season in 1999.

"It definitely was my biggest time as a footballer. We won a lot of trophies, I was part of a fantastic team [with] a fantastic manager," he said, before drawing parallels with Solskjaer's current United side.

Johnsen firmly believes Solskjaer is the right man to take United forward because of his trust in youth.

"So I'm rooting for Ole Gunnar to come to that stage again," he added.

"You can see the similarities now. Like when I came, there were a lot of local kids coming through to play for United and now we see it again with Ole Gunnar making sure the kids are coming through. I'm crossing my fingers for the future.

"I think he was nominated for manager of the month in December. Looking back on the results, I think he's building a team and putting a lot on young kids coming through the system. It takes a bit of time but I think it's only five [actually six] points off fourth place. That's an important place to get at. They've done well against the top teams.

"I really look positively on the future now. They're progressing in every game I see."
