Ronny Deila is praying Celtic go on to win 10 in a row - so he can join the party for a piece of history he helped secure.
The Norwegian led the Hoops to the fourth and fifth titles in a run which hit the record equalling nine in a row yesterday.
And despite the indifferent end to his reign which followed a Scottish Cup semi final defeat to Rangers in 2016, Deila insists he is proud of the legacy he left behind.
Backing Neil Lennon to go to win another title in 12 months’ time he told Open Goal : “Celtic winning 10 in a row would be amazing and next year is going to be important.
“Neil and his team - everyone has done fantastic.
“I am sure he is going to drag the club to ten and hopefully I can be there to celebrate with them.”
Deila continued: “I had a fantastic time at Celtic. There was so much talent in the team.
“I was impressed with what I did afterwards - not just the players but the whole culture of the club too.
“I’m still a fan, I follow Celtic all the time.”
Deila left Celtic Park shortly after the penalty kicks defeat to Rangers at Hampden in April 2016.
He said: “I didn’t think I was improving the team anymore.
“We played s*** against Rangers and I didn’t get the best out of the players.
“I knew the pressure was on my position and it impacted the team so I spoke to Peter Lawwell and we agreed enough was enough.
“I thought telling the players would give them a lift as the worst thing for me would be to lose the league title.
“We ended up winning it and it was the right time to go our separate ways.”
