Ronnie Wood's kids were 'very worried' over his second cancer battle in five years

Ronnie Wood's kids were 'very 'worried' about the rocker as he fought cancer for the second time in five years, his ex-wife has revealed.

The Rolling Stones legend, 73, was treated for small cell cancer in lockdown after first beating beat lung cancer in 2017.

Ronnie's former wife, the model Jo Wood, said it was lucky that doctors caught his latest illness so quickly as she told how the musician was making progress with his recovery.

The pair were married from 1985 until 2011 and share children Jamie, 46, Leah, 42, and Tyrone, 37.

Jo told The Sun: "I’m very proud of him. I think they caught it early as he has a history of cancer in his family.

‘It was very worrying, especially for the kids. But he’s much better. He’s going to be fine."

Ronnie and Jo split in July 2008 after he left his wife for then 18-year-old cocktail waitress Katia Ivanova, whom he had met in a London club.

The former spouses have maintained a close relationship since their break-up, which Jo said was 'important' to their children and grandchildren.

Ronnie is now married to Sally Humphreys, his third wife, with whom he shares twin daughter Gracie and Alice, five.

He is also dad to son Jesse, 44, who is married to TV and Radio star Fearne Cotton, from his first marriage.

The dad-of-six opened up to fans about his secret health problems back in April.

Discussing his cancer battle with The Sun, Ronnie said: "I had small cell more recently that i ought in the las lockdown.

"Throughout my recovery you have to let it go.

"What will be will be, it's nothing to do with me.

"All I can do is stay positive in my attitude, be strong and fight it and the rest is up to my higher power.

After being diagnosed with lung cancer in 2017, Ronnie said 50 years of chain smoking had caused his ill health.

Small cell cancer typically forms in the lungs but can also affect the prostate, bladder or lymph nodes.
