Ronnie Corbett funeral: Service for beloved entertainer to be held in south London

A funeral for Ronnie Corbett will be held close to his home in south London later today.

Corbett died in March aged 85 having been diagnosed with a suspected form of motor neurone disease.

A funeral service attended by family and friends will be held at the St John the Evangelist Church near his home in Shirley, Croydon. A private wake will take place after at a nearby golf club.

Comedian and friend Jimmy Tarbuck is expected to attend the service along with a number of Corbett’s famous friends.

Sir Bruce Forsyth is expected not to attend because he is recovering from surgery. Sir Bruce paid tribute to his friend following his death, saying his passing was “one of the saddest days of my life”.

Best known for his long-running BBC sketch show The Two Ronnies, Corbett was a popular British entertainer. He had been suffering from ill health since 2014.
