Rondo gets first practice look at starting point guard for Lakers

After new Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel was asked to give his starting lineup for Day 1 and said that it wasn’t close to set, we saw a little bit of a glimpse into the process of how Vogel is looking at different lineups. And at least for the first day of camp, the player getting the first look as the starting point guard is 13-year veteran guard Rajon Rondo.

Lakers.com’s Mike Trudell gave us the breakdown of the first couple of units getting a look from Frank Vogel and staff during the first day of Lakers training camp.

Vogel said that he will look at several different combinations before deciding on what the Lakers starting lineup will be.

No decisions are made on starting lineups. We are going to see how different combinations play together throughout camp. There’s a lot of different ways we can go and we have great flexibility on our roster so, stay tuned.

The Lakers don’t have a preseason game for a week, but I don’t think people should look too far into these choices at least until they get closer to the start of the season. And with the veteran nature of this team, even the starting lineup for Game 1 may be very different from the starting line-up come Game 82.
