Aug. 03--Fighter Ronda Rousey has been working hard to establish herself as an actress on the big screen. And she's just been offered the role of a lifetime.
She'll be playing a woman whose father committed suicide when she was a child and overcame homelessness, substance abuse and eating disorders to become a superstar of epic proportions.
She will be playing Ronda Rousey.
Variety magazine reports Paramount Pictures has secured the rights to Rousey's autobiography, "My Fight/Your Fight," with the UFC bantamweight champion attached to star in the project.
The book, which Rousey wrote with her sister Maria Burns Ortiz, became a New York Times bestseller after its release in May.
Rousey, who needed just 34 seconds to knock out Bethe Correia at UFC 190 on Saturday, already has experience playing herself in the movies, having done so in this summer's "Entourage." She's also had roles in "The Expendables 3" and "Furious 7," and will start shooting the action movie "Mile 22? early next year.
No timetable has been set for the biopic, which is being adapted by executive producer Mark Bomback.
It's pretty unusual for people to star in movies based on their own lives. And that might be for a reason. Remember that beyond-laughable trailer from the ill-fated project about and starring Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch?
