Ronda Rousey’s finger nearly severed by accident on ‘9-1-1’ set

Let us repeat that: The injury is gruesome. Take a look below if you must.

So the word is out I nearly lost my finger shooting @911onfox. Freak accident, first take of the day a boat door fell on my hand, I thought I just jammed my fingers so I finished the take before looking (I know it sounds crazy, but I’m used to live audiences and never showing pain unless I’m supposed to) after a break in the action I told our director the situation and was rushed via ambulance to the hospital where they promptly reattached my bone and tendon with a plate and screws. I returned to filming the next day and finished my scenes before returning home to recover. Modern medicine amazes me, I already had 50% range of motion back in 3 days. There’s so much more than I can write here, stayed tuned via @rondarouseydotcom for the full story. And of course tune in to see how well I can act like my finger didn’t just fall off in this upcoming season of @911onfox

Rousey, who plays a chief with the Los Angeles Fire Department, was in Mexico filming an action scene and said she was on her first take when the accident occurred.

“A boat door fell on my hand, I thought I just jammed my fingers so I finished the take before looking (I know it sounds crazy, but I’m used to live audiences and never showing pain unless I’m supposed to) after a break in the action I told our director the situation and was rushed via ambulance to the hospital where they promptly reattached my bone and tendon with a plate and screws,” she wrote on her official Instagram page.

Amazingly, the injury did not keep Rousey from work. She wrote that she returned to the set the next day and finished her scene.

“Modern medicine amazes me, I already had 50 (percent) range of motion back in 3 days,” she wrote.

As Rousey mentioned, she was pretty well prepared to tough her way through the injury. She’s taken plenty of big hits – real and staged – in the WWE and UFC.

The injury provided a heck of a pitch for Rousey to plug the show to fans who want to “see how well I can act like my finger didn’t just fall off.”

Rousey is currently on a hiatus from in the WWE, where she held the WWE Raw women’s title before a loss to Becky Lynch at Wrestlemania 35. Rousey wants to start a family with her husband, former UFC heavyweight Travis Browne.
