Ronda Rousey almost severs finger after 'freak accident' during filming

Ronda Rousey has revealed she almost lost her finger while filming last week.

The WWE superstar took to Instagram to show the extent of her injury, sustained while shooting 9-1-1 on FOX.

Rousey, 32, claimed a boat door almost severed her finger as she uploaded an image from her hospital bed of the stomach-churning wound.

Remarkably, Rousey managed to stay in character and even returned to filming the following day.

"So the word is out I nearly lost my finger shooting 9-1-1 on Fox," Rousey posted on Instagram.

"Freak accident, first take of the day a boat door fell on my hand, I thought I just jammed my fingers so I finished the take before looking (I know it sounds crazy, but I’m used to live audiences and never showing pain unless I’m supposed to) after a break in the action I told our director the situation and was rushed via ambulance to the hospital where they promptly reattached my bone and tendon with a plate and screws.

"I returned to filming the next day and finished my scenes before returning home to recover. Modern medicine amazes me, I already had 50% range of motion back in 3 days."

Rousey has taken time away from WWE since losing to Becky Lynch at WrestleMania as she spends time with her family.

Lynch meanwhile has called out the former UFC star, although she is unsure if Rousey will return to WWE.

“I don’t know if we will [see her again]. I’ll be here holding the company up if she does. We still have a one-on-one match to have.

“I’ll be holding this championship until someone pries it out of my cold, dead hands.

“So if she ever wants to come at me – Ronnie, I’m here waiting, you little weirdo.”
