Ronan O'Gara left speechless by Ireland's awful showing in England Six Nations defeat

Ronan O'Gara was left speechless by the nature of Ireland's 24-12 defeat to England at Twickenham.

The Munster and Ireland legend initially struggled for words in his analysis of the limp performance that killed off Triple Crown hopes.

Uncharacteristic errors marred an ugly afternoon for Andy Farrell's side following wins over Scotland and Wales that set up.

Speaking on Virgin Media Sport's coverage of the game, O'Gara looked gutted by the loss.

After a long pause for reflection, he did eventually find the words to sum things up.

"It's hard to know where you start in terms of how you review it," he said.

It just seemed a mismatch in a lot of departments, even though the scoreline doesn't reflect it. 24-12 is probably a good day for a lot of previous Irish teams in Twickenham, but there's new standards.

"Where are we attacking space or how are we trying to get the ball into space, would be something that I think needs to be looked at.

"Physically, when you have the Vunipolas, and they weren't there today, but you're going to have teams like that when we get to World Cups again, we have to mix it up a little bit.

"It's probably a bit of an out-there suggestion but the way Japan changed the point of focus with multiple threats, we need to get our passing game better."

O'Gara and fellow pundits Shane Horgan and Matt Williams all agreed that the scoreline didn't reflect the convincing nature of England's win.

He continued: "Watching it, I think England will be very disappointed they lacked the killer instinct."
