Ronan O'Gara excites Munster fans with fascinating interview after La Rochelle win

Munster and Ireland Rugby fans have plenty to be excited about after watching a fascinating Ronan O'Gara post-match interview last night.

The former out-half's La Rochelle side dazzled with a 27-16 win over Gloucester to advance to the European Champions Cup quarter finals.

And in a glowing interview after the game, the Irishman gave an insight into their quick offload game.

La Rochelle play a refreshingly free-flowing brand of rugby, a contrast to the more attritional and ruck-based Northern Hemisphere style, and O'Gara spoke about his philosophy as a coach.

"It's a mind-set," O'Gara told BT Sport.

"That interests me hugely. There's a massive ruck focus in the northern hemisphere and then when you go to the Crusaders [in New Zealand] it's K.B.A - Keep Ball Alive. And that's something I'm interested in myself. You've seen tonight, in the dry conditions, you don't even have to think about catching or passing - you can do that. So we're trying to have speed on the passing and keeping it alive.

"There's a risk with that, at times, but you have to weigh up the risk in reward. We were good, at times, and inaccurate, at times, but that's the beauty of our game."

O'Gara made the move to coaching in 2013 after hanging up his boots and has enjoyed spells as assistant at Racing 92 before a two season stint in New Zealand with Crusaders before returning to La Rochelle to take up his first head coach role.

And supporters remain hopeful that he'll return home and one day take charge of the Reds - and after last night's interview - fans are more hopeful than ever that the dream could become a reality.

One fan tweeted: "Wonderful interview with Ronan O Gara, who seems to be enjoying his time as a coach. It can't be too much longer before he returns to his beloved Munster?".
