Ronan Keating will not go by 'grandad' as son Jack welcomes first child

Ronan Keating revealed that he wants his new grandchild to refer to him as 'Pops' where possible.

The Boyzone singer became a grandad earlier this month after his son Jack, aged 24, became a father. Jack, who competed in Love Island last summer, welcomed a baby girl into the world.

Ronan has remain tight lipped about the new addition to the family but finally broke his silence on a recent episode of The One Show. The 46-year-old's new status as grandfather was commented on by co-host Jermaine Jenas, who asked what the new grandfather would be referred to as.

Ronan responded: "Uh, Pops. We'll go with that. Perfect." He also described the new arrival as a "gorgeous" baby.

Jack confirmed the news that he was a father through a proud post on Instagram. The black and white photo showed him cradling his newborn child, which was captioned with "Welcome to the world my little [princess emoji]."

Jack has confirmed that he is not with his child's mother. He said that the pair would co-parent together to provide their child with the best support system possible.
