Ronan Curtis says he will remain with Portsmouth next year

Ronan Curtis believes he will still be a Portsmouth player next season.

The former Derry City man has been a revelation at Pompey since moving last summer, scoring 13 goals and providing 16 assists in his debut season.

But promotion hopes were dashed in the League One playoff semi-finals after defeat to Sunderland.

He still has a year-and-a-half to run on his deal but is attracting interest from Championship clubs.

But Curtis yesterday played down any link with Premier League Brighton where new boss Graham Potter tried to sign him for Swedish club Ostersunds two years ago.

“No, there’s no talks about that anywhere,” he said. “We’ll see what happens. I’m a Portsmouth player for now. That’s where my heart is at at the minute.

“My agent would have told me (about wider interest in him) by now. They’re doing their bit, I’m doing mine, on and off the pitch and we’ll see.

“I’ve still got a year and a bit left on my contract at Portsmouth. We’ll see if clubs are interested. I’d have known by now, so it’s just rumours really.”
