Ron Roenicke to rejoin Angels coaching staff

Nov. 18--Ron Roenicke, who coached third base for the Dodgers at the end of last season, will coach third base for the Angels next season.

Roenicke coached for the Angels from 2000-2010, after which the Milwaukee Brewers hired him as manager. The Brewers dismissed him in May; the Dodgers hired him in August with a mandate to improve their base running.

He was one of nine known candidates interviewed to succeed Don Mattingly as the Dodgers' manager but did not advance to the second round of interviews.

Roenicke was the Angels' third-base coach during their 2002 World Series championship season. He replaces Gary DiSarcina, who is becoming first-base coach.

Roenicke, 59, was a first-round pick of the Dodgers in 1977 and played for six major league teams, including the Dodgers. He was a Dodgers teammate of Angels Manager Mike Scioscia from 1981-1983.

The Angels also announced that Gary DiSarcina will move from third-base coach to first-base coach, Alfredo Griffin will move from first-base coach to infield coach, Steve Soliz will move from bullpen coach to catching and information coach, and Keith Johnson, who spent the second half of 2015 as information coach, would return to Salt Lake to manage the club's triple-A affiliate.

Dino Ebel will remain as the team's bench coach.
