Ron Rivera tips his hat to the 49ers: ‘They’re 7-0 for a reason’

Well, there’s no shame in bein’ beaten by the best. So said the carny on the Simpsons after getting outwitted by Homer. The Panthers had better hope the 49ers are the best, because they got embarrassed in every conceivable fashion in today’s 51-13 loss.

Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to the other team. At least that’s what coach Ron Rivera told reporters after the game. He says there’s a reason these 49ers are now 7-0.

Rivera has a fair point to make here. San Francisco’s defense is undeniably impressive, even if Carolina was rolling with a backup quarterback. Then again, that’s probably not going to come across well considering how badly Rivera was beaten in his own matchup against Kyle Shanahan – especially coming off a bye week.

The 49ers’ ability to run the ball against the Panthers at will today has to be alarming enough to keep Rivera restless over the next seven days as he prepares to face Derrick Henry and the Titans.
