Kyle Allen is starting in Sunday’s game against the 49ers. The Panthers are also bringing a former MVP quarterback on the trip. According to coach Ron Rivera, Cam Newton is traveling with the team to San Francisco this weekend.
Newton has been out since Week 2, when he aggravated his foot injury against the Buccaneers. Allen has played well for a backup and gone 4-0 in Newton’s absence, albeit with a lot help of from Christian McCaffrey and some superb defense.
Cam has not been practicing with his teammates, but this week he was working off to the side with trainers, so that day isn’t far off.
