Ron Rivera is tasking his family to help him with the 2020 NFL Draft from home

One of the reasons that the Washington Redskins were so excited to bring in Ron Rivera as their new head coach is because he is a solid, down to earth, family man. Whether it is his relationship with his players or his relationship with his family, they knew that they could trust his judgment, and trust those who he trusted.

Now it appears that Rivera will be placing some trust in both his wife and his daughter during the 2020 NFL Draft, which is set to begin on Thursday night. According to ESPN’s John Keim, Rivera has tasked both with different things to do during the draft to help make the process easier for him and making sure some things don’t slip through the cracks while he tries to conduct the event from the comfort of his home.

Rivera’s wife, Stephanie, and daughter, Courtney, will play roles during the draft — allowing the coach to stay focused on the big-screen TVs and computers. His daughter, who works for the Redskins’ social media department, put together a video for USAA detailing Rivera’s home setup — and showing Stephanie keeping him fed with pancakes.

Their roles will be a little different Thursday night, however. They’ll take notes for Rivera during the draft and cross off names as they come off the board. Rivera also listed his wife’s cellphone as an emergency number for the league, just in case.

“It’s teamwork, just like in the military,” Rivera said. “Everyone in the house will be doing something.”

Hopefully, with the help of his family, everything will go off without a hitch on Thursday night and in the days following for the Redskins, and they are able to continue to build their roster into a winning team for the future.
