Ron Rivera admits TE is a problem for Redskins

Billed as a guy who is quite straightforward, new Washington Redskins head coach Ron Rivera has held true to that idea so far.

The latest example? Admitting tight end is a problem the Redskins need to work on this offseason.

“Do we have our tight end? Probably not,” Rivera said, according to NBC Sports’ JP Finlay. “That’s a big question mark.”

The admission comes on the heels of Vernon Davis announcing his retirement. It also stems at a time when the future of the oft-injured Jordan Reed remains a big unknown.

The good news? Rivera’s former tight end Greg Olsen will meet with the team this week.

Is the 30-plus tight end the only answer? Probably not, as the Redskins will also likely look at the draft and other free agents at the position to shore up the depth chart.

Who those players might be remain a mystery, but Rivera isn’t being very secretive with one of this team’s biggest needs.
