There’s a new man in charge at Hibs after Sir Tom Farmer sold his majority shareholding in the club to American Ron Gordon.
The move ends a 28-year association with the club for Farmer, but who is the new man at the Easter Road helm and what did he do before taking control of the Hibees ?
Born and raised in Peru, Ron Gordon’s grandfather originally emigrated to the South American country in 1908. Gordon studied at Lima’s British school, Markham College.
He attributes is love of football to watching and playing the sport growing up in the South American country.
At the age of 15 he emigrated to the United States of America before completing his studies in Sydney, receiving a BA in International Relations with a minor in economics from Syracuse University.
HIs background is in television productions in the States and he founded ZGS Communications, one of the leading independent broadcasting and media companies serving the Spanish-speaking audiences in the country.
After 30 years, ZGS became the largest affiliate group of the Telemundo Network and was sold t Comcast/Universal two years ago.
Over a long career in media, he has won 5 Emmys, 2 Telly Awards and a White House Media Achievement Award.
Gordon is also the founder of John Marshall Bank, one of the leading community banks in Washington D.C with assets of over £1.4billion.
Bydand Sports LLC, the company set up specifically to complete the purchase of Hibs, its taken from the motto of Clan Gordon, derived from “Bide and Fecht”, which means “stay and fight.”
