Ron Gordon reveals the Hibs chat with Jack Ross and David Gray that set in motion wage deferral

Ron Gordon has lavished praise on Hibs' players and supporters after the club announced their voluntary wage deferral scheme amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Easter Road chief's rallying cry comes 24 hours after the club announced cost-cutting measures including some players taking as much as a 50 per cent wage drop.

And now Gordon has lifted the lid on how himself, manager Jack Ross and skipper David Gray to the mutual decision as they look to cut costs as COVID-19 takes hold across the globe.

The American-based entrepreneur said: "I had a phone conversation with Jack Ross and David Gray to discuss how the players could support the club through this difficult time.

"It was on a voluntary basis that the club was asking, and I'm very grateful and proud to say that every single player stepped up and has been willing to support the club during this time.

"They have stood behind the club and I can assure them that the club will stand behind them.

"It's only been eight months or so since I took the chairmanship of the club, and every single day I feel very blessed and grateful that I am a part of the Hibernian family.

"These last couple of weeks have shown me how much everybody loves their club and what a significant club this is for everyone, how it makes a difference in everybody's lives.

"I am very, very proud today to be a part of our Hibs community.

"If our saying 'we are all Hibs' means anything, today it means more than ever."
