(Picture: Getty Images)On Thursday, Florida Governor Ron Desantis signed a package of anti-Covid vaccine mandate legislation in Brandon, Florida – seemingly poking fun at President Joe Biden.
In defiance of the White House which has encouraged mandates, the legislative package will make it illegal to require workers to be vaccinated.

Employers will be obligated to grant exemptions such as health or religious considerations, pregnancy or an upcoming pregnancy, and previous recovery from Covid-19, to name some.
I think Brandon is as good a place as any in Florida to sign these bills pushing back on mandates. Way to go @GovRonDeSantis! pic.twitter.com/mY6lqNJp5Z

The location of the signing is a nod to the “Let’s go, Brandon” slogan that became popular on the right after an NBC reporter at the Xfinity Series mistook the crowd for cheering on NASCAR driver Brandon Brown, who won.
However, the crowd was chanting “F*** Joe Biden.”

During a press conference in Palm Beach earlier in November, DeSantis labeled the Biden administration the “Brandon administration.”
Following DeSantis’ demand for a special legislative session on vaccine mandates, the bill was signed.
The three-day session was dubbed “political theater” by Democrats.
Rep. Angie Nixon (D-FL) tweeted that DeSantis “wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars on this special session.”
Ron DeSantis and the republican leadership just wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars on this special session. We didn’t even attempt to address this housing crisis affecting many in our state. We’re here just to kick off the governor’s campaign. #politicalcircus

DeSantis claimed victory on Wednesday when he tweeted that he looked forward to signing legislation to safeguard people’s jobs and “the jobs of all Floridians.”
I look forward to signing legislation that will protect their jobs and the jobs of all Floridians who are facing unjust termination due to heavy-handed mandates!

In November, the Biden administration issued a rule requiring employees in organizations with 100 or more people to either get vaccinated or produce documentation of a Covid-19 test result.
Following a court ruling, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was ordered to “take no steps to implement or enforce” the vaccine mandate “until further court order.”
