Romesh Ranganathan details horrific colonic irrigation story on The Graham Norton Show

Romesh Ranganathan has regaled Graham Norton and his audience with a rather grim story about the time he experienced colonic irrigation.

The comedian appeared with TV partner Rob Beckett in a virtual interview on the latest episode of The Graham Norton Show to promote their series, Rob & Romesh Vs.

During the show, the duo travel the world to meet celebrities and their sporting icons. In one episode, about basketball, Beckett apparently suggested they both undergo a colonic.

Beckett claimed he felt fans might have been jealous at how they were able to travel to exciting places, so wanted to put the pair through a number of less pleasant experiences.

“I don’t know why people don’t explain more clearly what it’s like to go through a colonic,” Ranganathan explains. “What I didn’t know, was you spend the whole time feeling like you’re going to burst.

“I genuinely was feeling a bit confident about it... I’m vegan, I thought I’m not gonna be one of these guys who’s got undigested meat sitting in my bowels... a whole button mushroom came out of my bum. Completely untouched, as if preserved in amber for an archaelogical dig. A complete, fully formed mushroom.”

Norton later played a clip that showed Beckett and Ranganathan attempting a ballet class with the Birmingham Royal Ballet, and invited professional dancer and Strictly Come Dancing judge Oti Mabuse to critique them.

The latest episode of The Graham Norton Show is available now on BBC iPlayer.
