Romero, Bergwijn, Sessegnon - The latest Tottenham injury news following Newcastle clash

Tottenham returned to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon as they travelled up to Newcastle United.

Spurs clinched their fifth Premier League win of the season, defeating the Magpies 3-2 thanks to goals from Tanguy Ndombele, Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min.

St. James' Park had a fantastic atmosphere and Steve Bruce's side took an early lead through Callum Wilson before Ndombele levelled the scoring shortly after.

England captain Kane then scored his first league goal of the campaign before Son made it 3-1 to Nuno Espirito Santo's men.

Tottenham then endured a nervy finish after centre-back Eric Dier scored an own goal in the dying embers of the game, although, the Lilywhites were able to secure all three points eventually, sending them up to fifth in the current standings.

With that said, football.london takes a close look at the latest injury news Spurs have to contend with ahead of their clash with Vitesse in the Europa Conference League on Thursday.

Ryan Sessegnon, Steven Bergwijn and Ben Davies

Sessegnon has been missing for a few weeks after the winger picked up an injury while on international duty with England's under-21 team, and Nuno has revealed that he is yet to make a return to training.

Meanwhile, Bergwijn has taken his time to recover, having sustained an injury during the last round of international fixtures, but returned to the bench for the game against the Magpies.

The Netherlands international has not played for Spurs since their Europa Conference League clash with Rennes last month after picking up a foot injury in France.

Davies is recovering from an appendix issue, with his last outing for Tottenham coming in last month's North London Derby defeat to Arsenal.

However, the Welsh fullback also returned to the bench against the Magpies.

Cristian Romero, Giovani Lo Celso, Davinson Sanchez and Emerson Royal

The quartet are not injured, but were all on international duty for Argentina and Brazil recently, meaning question marks remained over their availability for Sunday's clash.

Romero and Emerson ended up playing the full 90 minutes at St. James' Park whilst Lo Celso and Sanchez both were unused substitutes against the Tyneside-based club.

Matt Doherty

Doherty was taken off at half-time in the Republic of Ireland's comfortable win against Qatar in the week.

Expected return date: Unknown.
