Romeo Beckham’s Brentford B team-mate lifts lid on his attitude behind the scenes

Romeo Beckham is seemingly making an impression on his Brentford teammates as well as club bosses.

Few surnames in football come accompanied with more pressure and media frenzy than that of the 20-year-old, whose dad David needs little introduction to football fans of this or previous generations. The former England captain enjoyed a storybook career, that saw him grace clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, and PSG.

And he was rarely out of the limelight off the field either, considered as much a celebrity as he was an elite footballer. So son Romeo then coming through the ranks as a professional footballer was always going to be considered newsworthy,

After a previous youth stint with Arsenal, the 20-year-old later joined his famous father at Inter Miami in 2021. But in January this year, he signed a six-month loan deal at Brentford B, and has now penned a permanent deal for the Premier League club's second string side.

And it seems he's not just relying on family legacy having helped his new team with the Premier League Cup in May. A teammate also involved in that success has now praised the work ethic of Beckham Jnr.

Daniel Oyegoke, who will spend 2023/24 on loan at Bradford, told The Telegraph and Argus: “Romeo’s a top guy, who works hard every day. He’s been through a lot to get to this stage and he’s signed on there for another year so I’m happy for him.

Back in 2014, Beckham joined the Arsenal Academy but was released the following year. That seemingly ended his aspirations of a football career as he turned his focus to tennis - but in 2020 returned to the round ball game and headed to America.

His relationship with girlfriend Mia Regan has now been cited as a reason for a move back to England. The couple previously struggled due to the long-distance nature of their relationship while he was based in the US.

In the meantime, Beckham Snr has landed a major coup for his MLS franchise after an underwhelming season that led to him dismissing former United teammate Phil Neville. After his contract expired at PSG, Lionel Messi this month penned a lucrative deal over a move back to Barcelona.
