Romelu Lukaku snubs medal after role in Inter Milan's Europa League Final defeat

Romelu Lukaku chose not to go up and collect his Europa League runners-up medal along with the rest of his Inter Milan team-mates.

The Italian outfit were beaten finalists by competition specialists Sevilla, who ran out 3-2 winners.

It is their sixth success in the tournament and their winner was indebted to Lukaku, whose outstretched leg contributed to their winner.

The Belgian had opened the scoring early on but converted Diego Carlos' overhead kick into his own net in the second 45.

It proved to be the decisive goal and Lukaku was clearly not in any mood to receive his medal.

It ends what has been a season of near misses for the striker and his Serie A side, who also finished second behind Juventus in the league table.

Lukaku has been a massive hit following his mega money move and his penalty in Cologne was his 34th of the season.

It also extended his record breaking run which has seen him score in 11 consecutive Europa League games.

His opener was quickly cancelled out on the night though as Luuk de Jong scored two headers to put the Spaniards ahead.

Diego Godin levelled things up before the interval however with a header of his own. Sevilla's winner then came in the 74th minute.

After the contest Antonio Conte cast doubt over his own future as Inter boss.

The former Chelsea coach has only been in charge at the San Siro for a year but his fiery approach has seen him call out the board for a lack of support this term.

He said: "We're going to meet on next week with the club and we'll decide about my future.

"I'm not sure that I'll be the Inter manager on next season, we'll decide together. Inter will plan the future with or without me."
