Romelu Lukaku scores four goals on Inter Milan debut after leaving Manchester United

Former Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku bagged four goals on his debut for Inter Milan.

The Belgian completed a deadline day move to Italy and was pleased to move to Serie A after a difficult few months at United.

Lukaku did not feature for United at all in pre-season but the 26-year-old made his mark on his first appearance for his new club in an emphatic victory over fourth division side Virtus Bergamo.

Handed the number nine shirt after a mixed spell at Old Trafford, Lukaku netted four times in a comprehensive 8-0 victory for the Serie A giants.

It was a much changed line-up for Antonio Conte's side, with Sebastiano Esposito and Matias Vecino each bagging a brace.

The Inter boss described his new £74 million striker as an “excellent purchase”, but warned he will have to work hard on his fitness and tactics ahead of the start of the season.

Conte explained: “Obviously, Lukaku also needs to do a lot of work in training, both physically and on tactics.

“He is an excellent purchase and we are very happy. He wants to work really hard to be ready as soon as possible.”

Inter Milan open their Serie A campaign against newly-promoted Lecce at the San Siro on August 26.
