Romelu Lukaku's two-word Instagram message to Didier Drogba spotted amid talk of Chelsea return

Chelsea fans have spotted a potentially interesting exchange between Didier Drogba and Romelu Lukaku on social media.

It's no secret that the latter idolises the former, in fact, he said exactly that all the way back in 2015 - a year after he had left the Blues to join Everton on a permanent transfer.

"I text him, I phone him whenever I need him. He knows what to say and what not to say. That's what I like about him," Lukaku said, as per FourFourTwo. "Didier is my idol and he knows it but I am Romelu Lukaku and I am proud of my family name and I want to make my own story.

"Of course I respect Didier a lot but I think there are differences in our style of play.

"I'm a young player, I want to play at a high level and help my team-mates.

"Hopefully at the end of my career I can say I did my best to create a name for myself. I still speak to Didier. He gives me tips all the time.

"We have had a really special relationship since day one.

"When I arrived at Chelsea they put me next to him in the dressing room so that is when it started and I saw what a top professional he was."

And the pair remain in contact to this very day.

As spotted by Chelsea fans on Reddit, Drogba uploaded a picture of Lukaku whilst on international duty for Belgium with a one-word caption that read: "Hum"

To which Lukaku responded by saying: "We workin".

Now it's unclear as to what the pair are really talking about, but amid talk of Lukaku being a transfer target for Chelsea this summer, some fans on Reddit believe Drogba could be working his magic.

FrankiedrunkieHavertz said: "I honestly want him back, would do wonders for our attack."

IronCapThorKanté said: "Agent Drogba."

shastmak4Mount said: "Come back Rom. Proven goal scorer every where he went."

Dreydal said: "Once a blue, always a blue."
