Romelu Lukaku's sly dig at Man Utd following Inter Milan's Serie A triumph

Inter Milan secured their first Serie A title since 2010 over the weekend with four rounds of matches remaining.

The Nerazzurri’s triumph was achieved with multiple individuals who will be familiar to fans of the Premier League, steered by former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte and six former England-based players.

Ex Manchester City full-back Aleksandar Kolarov and former Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen are among their ranks, along with four former players of Manchester United.

The most influential of that group is striker Romelu Lukaku, who spearheaded the side’s title challenge with 27 goals across all competitions this season.

Lukaku moved to the Milanese giants in the summer of 2019 from United for a fee in the region of £67million and has hit the best form of his career in Italy.

Three of his teammates are also alumni of United including the wing-back Ashley Young, defender Matteo Darmian and forward Alexis Sanchez.

That quartet of players had vastly different fortunes at United; with Young clocking up over 260 appearances in eight-and-a-half seasons at the club, but the other three all fell short of expectations.

Lukaku has now posted a photo of the four players together in Inter’s changing room and donned in t-shirts celebrating the club’s title success.

Despite Inter falling short in Europe this season - they finished fourth in their Champions League group - they have hit their stride domestically in the second half of the campaign to pull away from their rivals.

Conte’s side are 13 points clear at the top with just four games of the season remaining, ending a run of nine successive league titles for Juventus.

The futures of the four former United players remains uncertain; Young is out of contract this summer and has been linked with a return to newly-promoted Watford while Darmian is on loan from Parma (who were relegated this season).

Lukaku himself has been linked to other leading European sides amid Inter's financial issues, which could lead to a San Siro fire sale.
