Manchester United are waiting for Inter Milan to meet their valuation of Romelu Lukaku.
Belgium striker Lukaku is keen to leave Old Trafford this summer after falling down the pecking order last season.
Inter boss Antonio Conte wants to take Lukaku to the San Siro with United ready to let him go for £75m - the same fee they paid Everton for the striker in 2017.
But reports in Italy suggest Inter are still some way short of meeting that valuation.
Gazzetta dello Sport claims the Serie A giants are only willing to pay around £55m - £20m short of United's price tag.
Lukaku recently opened the door to a move to Inter by hailing Conte, who tried to sign him when he was at Chelsea
He said: "I am a big Serie A fan, those close to me know that I have always wanted to play in the English league and in the Italian one: I love Italy.
"Now Antonio Conte going to Inter Milan, which is really good because he is, to me, the best manager in the world."
Meanwhile, it has been claimed Inter would consider selling Mauro Icardi to United to land Lukaku.
Icardi has seen his relationship with Inter deteriorate this season having been stripped of the captaincy in February following wife Wanda Nara's comments on an Italian TV show.
That led to the 26-year-old refusing to play in a Europa League tie and despite returning to the fold at the end of the season, it could be in the interest of both parties if he moves on this summer.
