Romelu Lukaku's former teammate delivers huge update on future amid Chelsea vs Liverpool snub

Romelu Lukaku has reportedly told former Everton teammate Tim Howard that he will be having a meeting with Chelsea on Monday after being dropped against Liverpool following comments made to the media.

The Belgian revealed to Sky Italia three weeks ago that he was unhappy at the club, though the quotes had only recently been released and caused quite a stir.

The forward said: "But I'm not happy with the situation, this is normal. I think the coach has chosen to play with another module, I just have to not give up and continue to work and be a professional.

"I am not happy with the situation, but I am a worker and I must not give up."

The comments were then later discussed by Thomas Tuchel in his pre-match press conference for Liverpool, saying: "I don't like it because it brings noise that we don't need. It's just not helpful.

"On the other side, we don't want to make more out of it than it actually is.

"You know very well how it is - it's very easy to take lines out of context. It's very easy to shorten lines and make headlines, then later realise that it's not so bad and maybe not what he meant.”

However, according to NBC Sport, Lukaku has been discussing the situation with Howard and has revealed when he will hear more on his future.

Quoting the texts, NBC claimed Lukaku has said: "I can’t say too much. The situation is hot. I have another meeting on Monday. After that, I can say more."

Time will tell how this saga plays out, with a meeting said to be discussed on Monday over how the situation will be dealt with.

The striker's absence from the Liverpool game may be a costly decision in the short-term, but in the long-term it may be a key decision from Tuchel.
