Romelu Lukaku's chances to sign for Inter Milan slashed as Manchester United striker makes transfer demand

Romelu Lukaku is now odds on to join Inter Milan this summer amid continued transfer speculation.

The Manchester United forward has been heavily linked with a move to Italy since the conclusion of the Premier League season, and is keen to resolve his future before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side leave for their pre-season tour of Australasia.

Sources close to the Belgium have told the MEN the striker is intent on joining Inter since he does not feel 'important' under Solskjaer.

And it now appears bookmakers see the transfer saga coming to an end. Lukaku, who joined the Reds from Everton in the summer of 2017, is now 1/4 on with Ladbrokes join Internazionale in this summer's window.

United return to pre-season training on July 1 before the tour squad flies to Perth on the 7th, but the Belgium international will be hoping to have linked up with his new team-mates by then.

The former Chelsea man is keen to work under Antonio Conte, who was named as Inter's new boss following the conclusion of the Serie A season.

"It is good that Conte went to Inter, for me he is the best coach in the world," Lukaku said last week.

"As for my future, I have already made a decision that I still cannot communicate publicly out of respect for Manchester United, with whom I have a contract."

Lukaku has scored 96 times in 42 appearances in his two-year spell at Old Trafford, with former club Everton set to receive £5m of any bid submitted for the forward.
